Does Fergie and Gwen Stefani try to be thug girls?

From what I hear, Fergie does actually have a chola background, but she left that behind ages ago. As for Gwen Stefani, she's a bleached Sicilian girl who's well known for cultural appropriation. I'm still not sure what she wants to be.
