What is a really good free virus detection and removal of virus for win98?

i have a win98 machine and i have searched 4 months trying to find a free program that will scan and REMOVE viruses with out having to pay or register after wards. i have tried spyware terminator spybot search and destroy and clam win, spy doc it wants u 2 pay,bug doc,ive tried alot and they claim to be free but they r not i have no idea if clam win erased anything it just scanned 4 2 hours. my computer freezes, slowed down since i got it and crashes alot errors, missing files, i cant view pdf files this is rediculus. im so frustated can any one tell me where to go !!!!!!i need to get rid of all these virues some free scaner said i have a billion and 1 viruses and the ones ive tried only detect maybe 30 or 40
